Pierce Purcell: Hard luck to the Pierce Purcell team beaten by Newbridge on Sunday. The team can hold their head high, even in defeat, as, to a man, they gave of their best for the team and the Club. Newbridge are wished all the best going forward in this historic competition. As for ’Comer, in this particular competition, tiocfaidh ár lá.
Cullen Cup: Castlecomer Golf club recorded a superb away win over New Ross. Team: Maria Downey & Martin Brennan (G), Ann Ring & Jason Brennan, Joan Brennan & Ronan Walsh, Honoria Fogarty & Michael Daly, Bessie Brophy & Damien Knox. It was a terrific occasion for the Brennan family with 3 family members helping, in no small way, to inspire the team to victory on the day. Manager Seamus O’Connor had to step in at the last minute and with the scores at 2-2 it was he and Bessie Brophy who eventually triumphed on the 20th (TWENTIETH!) hole of their match as night began to fall. (See photo below)

28th April JB CARR: A sincere word of thanks to team manager, Mr Martin Brennan for fielding an enthusiastic challenge to Mt Juliet in Mount Juliet on Saturday evening. Mt Juliet, inspired by Sean O’ Neill, Ted Hoyne and his brother Alan to name but a few on the home team were simply unbeatable. With 4 matches won by the home team, Castlecomer’s  Murty Coonan and Martin Brennan – who were 3 up with 3 to play – were called in. Well done also to the sporting challenge of team mates,Seamus Brennan and John Kelly, Johnny Brennan and Seamus Malone, Donie Walsh and Michael Doheny and  Christy Comerford and Richie Hogan who felt the full force of a fine tuned Mount Juliet team who were adept at finding the key positions on the greens with their second shots on the par 4’s and third shots on the par 5’s. Castlecomer couldn’t have been beaten by  more sporting and friendly hosts. The fine  meal afterwards with opposing players sitting alongside each other and the ensuing banter summed up the success of the trip to a beautiful course on, to date, the most sun-splashed pleasant evening of the year. Take a well earned bow  Mt Juliet. Best of luck in the next round.
27th April: The men’s JB Carr team had a great 3-2 away to Gowran GC today. Team; Christy Comerford & Seamus Brennan, Seamus O’Connor & John Kelly, Donie Walsh & Tom Mooney, Shamus Malone & Johnny Brennan, Martin G Brennan & Murty Coonan. Team Manager Martin G Brennan

22nd April: DUGGAN CUP: Congratulations to team manager, Martin Brennan and his trusted All-Ireland championship team for successfully negotiating a very narrow victory on Sunday against a very skilful and determined bid by Carlow to dethrone the champions in this year’s first round. Champions can be quite vulnerable, especially, in the first round, but this Castlecomer team is made of sterner stuff! Roll on boys!

21st April: Well done to club’s Mens team who beat Mount Juliet in the All Ireland Fourball Interclub Competition on Sat 21st April.
