Club Fundraising Team Classic
This year’s club fundraising team classic takes place from Thursday May 22nd to Sunday May25th. This is one of the club’s main fundraisers and has some excellent prizes for the winners.The timesheet for the classic is now open. A team of 4 costs €160 which includes a delicious meal in our Foxglade Restaurant.We look forward to the support of our club members and visiting club members for this annual fundraising team classic.

5th May. Congratulations to Manager Mark O’ Dowda and the Barton Cup team who had a good win over Kilkenny today.
5th May. As part of the upcoming Annual Nurses Outing our charity raffle in support of A mber Women’s Refuge and Aiséirí Adolescent Addiction Centre is now up and running in the club bar. The draw will take place on Friday May 9th during the prize giving. Be sure to pick up a ticket when you’re in…all support is greatly appreciated for these two very worthy causes. €5/per strip
Senior Men”s 18 Hole Open Singles
A Senior 18 Hole Open Singles Competition will be held in Castlecomer on the second Monday of each month.
It begins next Monday April 14th.
This competition is open to all Golf Ireland players who are 50 years of age or older.
The handicap allowance will be 100%.

•Members entering should put their name and entry fee in the appropriate marked (white) envelope provided and place in Men’s Competition Fee Box.
•Members must have entry fees enclosed in envelope to be entered in the draw.
The closing date for entries is Sunday May 18th
25th April. This years club fundraising classic takes place from May 22nd – 25th.
This is one of the clubs main fundraisers and we’d really appreciate if everyone could put their shoulder to the wheel again this year by trying to source teams and sponsors. Cost for a team of four is €160. Cost to sponsor a tee box is €200. The timesheet is now open for bookings.

INFORMATION MEETING FRIDAY 11th APRIL @ 8pm in Clubhouse. The Management & Finance Committees will hold an information meeting in relation to the Club bank refinancing. Members will be briefed on current progress to date and will be given an outline of possible funding options once a settlement has been reached. Your attendance will be welcome.

8th Apr. Our Masters Competition starts this Thursday. We encourage all members to participate as it’s a great way to have an interest throughout the four days of golf. Please also ask your family and friends to support this fundraising event.

6th April. Club Mixed Scotch Foursomes 2025
▪︎The club mixed scotch foursomes 2nd qualifying round will be held on Sunday next 13th April
▪︎A draw for partners will be made on Fri 11th April
▪︎Members who wish to play should text their name to Eamonn Breen by Thursday 10th April.
Members who did not qualify from the first qualifying round may also enter the draw again.
•The top 4 pairings will qualify for the match play ¼ finals and join the 4 pairings already qualified.
4th April. We are less than a week out from the start of our Masters competition. We ask all members to support this key club fundraiser and also encourage them to ask their friends and family to participate. Thanks.

Marnie Brennan & Michael McGrath were presented with the Women in Golf Golf Charter Award at the Golf Ireland AGM on Saturday, 29th Mar.
2nd April.
This weekend’s singles competition will now be a V Par Competition
For those players who have never played this format before the scoring system is different to stableford.
A player should just record his numerical score on each hole on the scorecard as normal and the computer will show his final score on completion of the round.
Each hole is treated separately as in stableford so a few bad holes does not necessarily put you out of contention.
31st Mar. Junior Golf Academy
The club will host a golf academy for boys and girls from six to 18 years of age from April 19th to October 25th . The programme which runs from 2 to 5pm each Saturday, includes golf lessons with PGA pro Sean O’Donoghue, and will cover full swing, short game and putting, rules and etiquette, practice and play. The Men”s Committee has changed the Prize Structure for Men”s Weekend Singles Competitions. The new structure is listed below.

Please note that there will be no second prize in the class the overall winner comes from.
Some competitions like the Captains Prize will have a different structure which will be announced prior to those competitions.
9th Mar. Congratulations to Kieran Bergin on winning the Top 40 Winter Series Final.
5th Mar. The golf course will re-open for play on Friday next following course maintenance. Members please note that the front area of the ninth green is marked GUR. You must drop within one club lenght of the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole. Bear in mind that the nearest point of relief may be off the green.
The re earthed ground where bunkers used to be on holes 8, 9, 11 and 12 are still GUR areas. Drop within one club lenght of the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole.
2nd March. Dear Members,
On behalf of Delia, John Joe , Noreen and myself, I want to thank each and everyone of the members who made the “Club Drive In” a great day for all. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped on the day. A huge thanks also to the bar staff and Lucasz who looked after everyone from early morning.
Finally we wish all our members a happy and healthy golfing year ahead .

23rd Jan. NOTICE: Due to the red storm warning the course is now closed. All flag pins have been removed from the greens. The course will be closed tomorrow Friday. A course inspection will take place on Saturday morning and members will then be informed if the course will remain closed.

Club Joint AGM
The joint ÀGM took place on Thursday 12th December in the club house with a large number of members in attendance. Chairperson Sean Scanlon gave his last address to the members as he has completed his 3 years on the Committee of Management. We thank Sean and all the outgoing members of our Management Committee for their great work and outstanding service to our club.Best wishes to incoming Chairperson Liam Mooney and all the new members as they take up their roles on the Committee.

New Club President – Delia O’Donohoe
We thank outgoing President Austin Kelly for his dedicated service to the club over a long number of years, and he has been a great ambassador for our club in his role as Club President for the last two years. As a mark of his club commitment, Austin has agreed to serve on our Committee of Management as Course Coordinator for another year. At the Club Joint AGM, Austin announced to great applause that club member and former Lady Captain Delia O’Donohoe would be our new club president for the next two years. Delia does trojan work for the club and we all wish her well in her new role as Club President.
