The Barton Cup team of John Buggy and Martin Rowe, Rob Brennan and Josh Kelly, Mark O” Dowda and Mark Shortall (all home) and Niall O” Sullivan and Eoin Healy and Michael Buggy and Nicky Walsh were victorious over an excellent Bunclody GC team. For once “Comer had the home draw and this proved decisive as Rob and Josh and the two Marks both secured victories at home, Rob and Josh on 15 and Mark and Mark on 17, to leave “Comer just requiring the one point to advance and Buggy and Walsh got over the line in Bunclody, with John and Martin and Niall and Eoin both being called in on the 19th and 18th respectively. Tougher tests lie ahead however, with near neighbours Kilkenny the next opponents. This will be a stern test with Kilkenny having home advantage and the word from town is they have earmarked the Barton as a competition they can go all the way in. We will see.
