Interclub Update – JB Carr

Martin Brennan’s county champion winning JB Carr team got the better of Carlow champions Borris, also on Sunday, winning comprehensively to meet Westmanstown GC in the next round. Following their success when winning the Kilkenny county final recently our JB Carr team played Carlow county champions Borris golf club in the inter county qualifying section on Sunday 7th June.The favourable home draw proved to be a decisive factor in this match. After a close and very competitive match against an experienced Borris team our players playing excellent golf in many matches were to win the match and progress to the next round. Our opening pairing of Tommy o Neill and Ned Mahon who are always so capable and reliable came up against a Borris pairing who played outstanding golf to win this match.Our second pairing of Andy Cleere and Pat Comerford also played excellent golf to defeat their opponents decisively. Our next pairing of Christy Comerford and Michael Daly had a great battle with their capable opponents before eventually winning their matc on the 16th hole.Ml o Connor and John Phelan played steady golf to see off their opposite numbers and clinched the overall match for the team when winning their game on the 14th hole.Michael Dermody and Martin Brennan were also 1 up on the 16th hole when called in.Well done to the team members on another excellent performance and we wish team manager Martin Brennan and the team continued progress in this competition.
