Once again the home draw proved crucial with all home players winning their matches and “Comer also secured two away points to earn a spot with Enniscorthy GC in the round of 16. Colum chose his team wisely with Mark “O Dowda winning emphatically on the 10th hole away. Tom Coogan also won away, emerging victorious on 15 while Eoin fought back valiantly to be pipped at the final home. At home Dixie Buggy won on 17 with a magnificent chip in birdie to secure a 2 up win. Shay Kennedy and Mark Unwin also won relatively easily, with both finishing their matches on 15. Best in class at home however, goes to Ciaran Kelly, who once again proved that age is no obstacle, as the veteran put his opponent to the sword on the 12th hole. Colum said in his post match press conference that he is immensely proud of his team, who now face Enniscorthy in the next round, in what will surely prove to be a different story entirely.
