The Castlecomer Moore Cup team played Portlaoise in a second round match on Sunday 5th July.Our team winners of this competition for the past two years were endeavouring to continue that trend but came up against a very good and extremely competitive Portlaoise team on this occasion.Playing some very good quality golf the Portlaoise players won their three home matches and set the foundation for victory in the match.The Portlaoise team then ensured the victory when winning one game in Castlecomer Although they had won two matches and were up in another when called in the Castlecomer team were defeated in the match overall. The teams ambition to complete a three in a row for our club was now ended. Team manager Pat Haughton and the entire panel of players involved over the last few years have had great success and been a great source of pride for our club during this time.
