Friday the 24th is a date for your golfing calendars, it signals the start of Open Week in Castlecomer GC and will run until Friday the 31st of July. Among the attractions in our Festival of Golf is the Open Pass. For just €50, members and visitors can play in all competitions they are eligible for and as many times as they wish. As part of this incredibly cost effective deal is the 2’s club, which carries a prize of an electric trolley. The rules are simple, get a 2 on any hole over Open Week and you are entered into a draw for the trolley, kindly sponsored by O’ Dwyers Golf shop Kilkenny.
There is always a welcome for everyone in Castlecomer and Open Week continues in that proud tradition, with competitions catering for Men, Ladies, Seniors and Junior golfers. There will also be an 11 hole competition most evenings and all are welcome. Head Chef Lukasz Glab will be on duty providing top class dining in the Foxglade restaurant daily, and full bar facilities are also available over the week. Headed up by the ever enthusiastic Galwegian Delia O’ Donoghue this event has been running for 48 years now, while Delia hasn’t been in charge for all of those years, she is at the helm now and she, along with a plethora of fellow volunteers run an excellent week with some magnificent prizes at stake. This is an excellent opportunity for anybody who loves golf to play a top class Championship course at very reasonable prices, and the advice is to book early as timesheets are filling up rapidly.
