With the Masters just around the corner and with the golf season gathering momentum, Castlecomer Golf club have a number of announcements.

Firstly the midweek singles commenced this week with Jason Knowles (15) taking the spoils with a score of 36 points, a close second was young gun Eoin Healy (12) with 35 points (bk 9).

There was a hotly contested scramble at the weekend and despite Hurricane Dave doing his worst, local favourites Rob “the power” Brennan, Jonny “the fox” Dowling and John “Trotsky “ Doheny took the spoils with a score of 60 5/6 nett, Graham Lawler, Barrie Doyle and Mark Delaney were second with a score of 62 1/6 nett, while Damien Fogarty, Karl O Donnell and Joe Dowd, three seasoned campaigners of many’s a club team over the years, were third with a score of 61 2/6 nett. Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to those who braved the elements. Some excellent scores, particularly from the winning team who had a paltry 2 1/6 strokes and finished with a magnificent return of -9 to emerge victorious.
