The men’s club Moore Cup team played a strong and very competitive Headfort golf club team in the semi final of this competition on Saturday 30th of August. As Headfort were the home team per the draw, they had four of the seven singles match play games on their own course.

The Castlecomer team as reigning Moore cup champions,  however rose to the challenge and performed superbly on the day to win through to a second successive final. The match provided some very close and tense games, with the overall result in doubt to the very last games in both venues.

The Castlecomer team were to eventually win two games both at home and away, to secure their place in the final. The team will now endeavour to defend their title, when they play Mount Temple in the final on Saturday the 13th September in Portarlington Golf Club.

Congratulations on another great win by manager Pat Haughton and his team members. All club members wish them well in their efforts to successfully regain their title in the final. Team members at home in the semi final were: Gerry Mealy, Michael O’Connor and Ned Mahon.

Team members away were: Michael Furlong, Eamonn Breen, Martin Brennan and Seamus O’Connor
