The Blue Monster, one of Castlecomer Golf Clubs’ signature events has been well and truly tamed by Ciaran Kelly. Shooting a magnificent 46 points, the veteran belied his years and decimated the field with an incredible score. Playing off 15 Ciaran shot 5 over to blow the rest of the field away and capture this prestigious event. Played off the championship markers only once a year and measuring 6180 metres, bragging rights belong to the Crettyard man for 12 months. Fellow Laois man Shane Coakley was the winner in Category 1 with 43 points while Thomas Breen was second after a count back with 36 points. Club stalwart and fans favourite Michael Buggy won the gross prize for the millionth time shooting 34 points. Martin Bully Brennan won Category 2 on 40 points. First in Category 3 was Alan Williams scoring 42 points with Paul Mullan runner up on 39 points.
